Chaoblog (The Blog) for November 17, 2007:
Update: What's
Going On
Since I have not written in about 2
weeks, it is about time I write something. There is not a lot going on in the
world of Chaotic, but there are a few things to note, so here I go:
3 vs. 3 Battles
The biggest piece of news out of
4Kids (which we first announced on the forum), is the push up of the 3 vs. 3
battles. So, now we are going to be able to battle three creatures at a
time. Yeah, I know, still no Mugic or Locations, but the 3 vs. 3 will be a
lot of fun with a little more strategy going into our battles. The
location cards will now be implemented on December 12th, followed by the use of
Mugic a month later on January 16th. Hopefully, they will be able to push
up these dates as well.
Online Trading Available
The Online trading of cards became
available this weekend. We can now trade our digital cards with other fans
around the country. This is really cool (especially since Pokemon already
has online trading available). There are a number of rules for trading
which is set out by Teia on the official Portal at:
http://www.chaoticgame.com/Forum/Topic9152-5-1.aspx. Just remember,
this is for the online cards, and not the physical cards. The bad news is
that there were a number of site slowdowns to go with this. To make it
easier, the rules for the trading are below:
RULES FOR ONLINE TRADING:
• You will only be able to have three trades active at the same time.
• There will be a 48 hour time limit for your open trades. After that,
if your trade has not been accepted by anyone, it will be deleted.
• Once you use a traded card in one of your Armies, it will be “locked”
to your Collection and you will not be able to trade it again. (An
“unlock” feature will be coming in December. This feature will let you
unlock these “locked” cards from your Collection and then you can trade
them with other players.)
• Any of your “Free” online cards (like the free online sampler starter
deck or cards from promotions) can never be traded. These cards will
show up in your Collection, but they will not have the “Trade” icon, so
you won’t be able to select them for trading.
• Cards that you have never traded before (like cards you purchased from
a store) can always be traded, as long as they are not being used in one
of your Armies at the time of the trade.
• You cannot use any single card in more than one Trade at a time.
• Cards being used in any of your Armies cannot be offered for trade and
cards being offered for trade cannot be used in any of your Armies.

--> You need to remove cards from your Armies before you can trade them.
• You can trade any combination of cards (between one and five cards) in
exchange for any other combination of cards (between one and five
cards).
--> For example: you could offer two cards for trade and request five
cards in exchange.
• If you don’t see the Trade icon on your card, it can mean:
--> The card is already being used in a trade.
--> The card is a free online sampler or promotional card.
--> The card is in an Army.
--> The card is a traded card that is locked because it has been used in
one of your Armies.
Collection Sector
• From the “Collection” sector, you will be able to post your cards that
you would like to offer for trade and request what cards you want from
other players in exchange.
• Two new trading icons will be added on the trading card thumbnails in
the “Collection” sector. You will see these icons on the thumbnails of
the individual cards.
• The “Yellow Offer” icon will allow you to offer your cards up for
trade.
--> To see the cards you own from the main Collection sector, you would
look for thumbnails that have a small number in the upper left corner of
the card.
--> The number on the green circle will show you how many of that card
you own.
--> By clicking on the number, you will open a new mini-window which
will display your copies of that card.
--> You will be able to see the “Yellow Offer” icon on your cards here.
• The “Blue Request” icon will allow you to request what cards your want
from other players in exchange for the cards you offered for trade.
--> This icon is located on the thumbnails in the main Collection
sector.
--> You can request any card from the set - even cards that you
currently don’t own.
• How to choose the cards that you want to “Offer” for Trade:
--> From the main Collection sector, you would look for thumbnails that
have a small number in the upper left corner of the card.
--> Now you need to click on the number to bring up a new mini-window,
which will contain your cards.
--> From the mini-window, you can click on your cards to view their
individual stats.
--> After deciding which cards you want to offer for trade, you can
select them by clicking on the “Offer” icon on the thumbnail.
--> You can offer any combination of cards (between one and five cards).
--> Remember that free online or promotional cards, cards already being
used in another trade, and cards in an Army cannot be selected for Trade
and you won’t see the “Offer” icon on these cards.
--> The cards you selected will be placed in the “Offer” window at the
bottom of the “Collection” sector.
• How to “Request” cards that you want to receive in exchange for
your cards:
--> From the main Collection sector, you would see the “Request” icon on
the card thumbnails.
--> After deciding which cards you want to request in exchange for your
cards, you would click on the “Request” icon on the thumbnail.
--> You can request any combination of cards (between one and five
cards).
--> All cards are always available for request with no restrictions.
--> The cards you selected will be placed in the “Request” window at the
bottom of the “Collection” sector.
• How to complete the Trade:
--> Once you have selected cards to trade, click on the “Trade” button
at the bottom of the “Collection” sector.
--> A new mini-window will open that will show you the details of your
trade.
--> From here, you can confirm the trade by clicking the “Trade” button.
--> This will bring up a final confirmation box for you to accept.
--> Click “Ok” if you are sure that you want to go through with the
trade.
--> If you change your mind, you can click the “Cancel” button within
the Trade Sector and this will cancel your trade.
Trade Sector
• The “Trade” sector will have a list of all open trades in the Online
Trading system.
• You will be able to search and view trade details.
• We will be starting off with an “Open Market Trade” system and adding
an “Individual Trade” system later on.
• If you want to trade only with your friends (before we add the
“Individual Trade” system), you and your friends would need to do
“staged” trades with each other.
--> CAUTION: Don’t try this with anyone other than trusted
friends.
• Example – How do I trade my Maxxor for my friend’s Chaor?:
--> Tom wants to trade his Maxxor for Jane’s Chaor.
--> Tom would offer a common card (like Shriek Shock) and request an
ultra-rare card (like Chaor) in trade.
--> Jane would accept the trade and give Tom her ultra-rare Chaor card
in trade for his common Shriek Shock card.
--> Next, Jane would then create her own “staged” trade for Tom to
accept.
--> Jane would offer a common card (like Shadow Strike) and request an
ultra-rare card (like Maxxor) as trade.
--> Tom would accept the trade and give Jane his own ultra-rare Maxxor
card in trade for her common Shadow Strike card.
--> No other players should be willing to accept a trade that is
requesting for an ultra-rare card in exchange for a common card, so this
should guarantee the trade between you and your friend.
Army Sector
• There are also changes to the Army Sector to help you work with your
current trades and new trades that you receive.
• Two new icons will be added on the trading card thumbnails in the
“Army” sector.
--> The “Trade” icon, which will appear on cards that are currently up
for trade. These cards cannot be added to your armies.
--> The “Padlock” icon, which will appear as either “unlocked” or
“locked.”
--> For cards that you have received from a trade but not yet placed in
one of your Armies, the “Padlock” icon will appear as “unlocked.”
--> For cards that have been traded and placed in one of your Armies,
the “Padlock” icon will appear as “locked.” (Remember this card is now
no longer available for trading).
--> Free online or promotional cards and store bought cards that have
never been traded will not have the “Padlock” icon.
• You will always be given a warning if you are about to “lock” one of
your traded cards.
• Received cards, locked to your collection, can always be used in as
many Armies as you would like. There is no restriction - you just can’t
trade that card again.
FAQs
Q: Why is there a 3 trade limit?
A: Here at Chaoticgame.com we are concerned about people who
might try to make silly trades and overrun the system with too many
trades. Limiting those trades to three per person initially is a way to
make sure this doesn’t happen.
Q: Why is there a 48 hour time limit?
A: We want to have the Online Trading system be a place where
active trading takes place, so we’ve imposed the 48 hour time limit to
clear out trades that are not receiving offers. With so many explorers
waiting to trade, if your trade hasn’t been accepted within 48 hours,
you will probably need to revise the trade to make it a fairer trade.
Q: Is there any penalty to trading?
A: No. There is no game play penalty for trading and traded cards
will work exactly as they should. Because received cards that are in use
in your army are locked, some might view this as a penalty, however we
will be adding a system later to remove that locking mechanism.
Q: What if two friends wanted to “share” an ultra-rare card?
A: You cannot trade a card that has been “locked.” Cards are
“locked” when they are traded and used in an Army. Cards that are traded
but not used in an Army can be traded again.
Q: Is there a limit to how many times a single card can be traded
to different players?
A: As long as a card is not used in an Army, it can be traded
unlimited times. Once a traded card is used in an Army, it will be
“locked” to that player’s Collection and be unavailable for trade (until
we add the “unlock” feature in December.)
Q: What if I accidentally put a card in an Army by mistake? If I
remove the card right away before leaving the Army sector, will it be
automatically locked and unavailable for trading?
A: Once a card is placed in an Army (even for just one second),
it is immediately saved to that Army. The traded card would then be
locked to your “Collection” and be unavailable for trade. Don’t worry;
you will be warned before you place the card into your army, making sure
you want to activate the lock.
Q: How do I cancel an open trade?
A: When you log in, go to the “Trade” sector. Use the “My Trades”
filter to find your trades. Then there will be a “Cancel” button next to
your trade. Click that and confirm that you really want to cancel your
trade, and then your trade will be canceled.
Q: Can I see how long my trade has left before it's closed?
A: No. But you can see the date your trade was posted by clicking
on the Trade details.
Q: Where do I go to see all of my current open trades?
A: When you log in, go to the “Trade” sector. Use the “My Trades”
filter to find your trades.
Q: Why won’t it let me put a card up for trade?
A Your card would not be available for trade if:
• The card is already being used in a trade.
• The card is a free online sampler or promotional card.
• The card is in an Army.
• The card is a traded card that is locked because it has been used in
one of your Armies.
Q: If I put a traded card into one Army, can I take it out and
put it into a different Army later or is it locked there?
A: A traded card is only locked to your “Collection,” but you can
use it in as many of your Armies as you wish.
Q: I want to trade my Chaor for either a Maxxor, Heptadd, or Lord
Van Bloot. How do I offer my Chaor for either a Maxxor, OR a Heptadd, OR
a Lord Van Bloot in a single trade? I don’t care which one I get, but I
know I want one of the three.
A: You can’t have “multiple choice” types of “Requests” for
trades, but you could post in the “Trading” forum and arrange your trade
there before posting the trade in the “Trade” sector. You can also pick
which of those trades you think will have the best chance of succeeding
and place that trade up. Personally, I would only trade my Chaor for a
Heptadd, so I would probably make that my trade.

Q: There is a trade listed that I want! It’s a Maxxor for three
Viper Lash, but I only have my two original Viper Lash that I got in
Chaotic boosters. However there is also another trade; it’s a single
Viper Lash for a single Degenervate and I have an extra Degenervate. Can
I trade my Degenervate for that extra Viper Lash, and then trade my
three Viper Lash for Maxxor?
A: YES! As long as you don’t lock that extra Viper Lash into an
Army, you can free trade it (or all of them) for that Maxxor.

Portal
Slowdowns
Speaking of slowdowns . . . . the
latest update did something to slow down the Chaotic portal. However, as
of this morning (11/17), they have fixed the problems, so playing speed is back
up to normal.
Pocketkoi Unbanned!!!
It took 3 weeks, but he if finally
back in. He got banned to putting in too many wrong codes. He was trying to put
in codes for an entire box of boosters, and I guess that can happen. Not
cool that it happened, and really not cool that it took so long. Pocketkoi
is not alone, it has happened to others, such as in the following blog by
someone's cool father at
http://www.oneblogtoomany.com/2007/10/31/banned-from-chaotic-game/.
I should have a cool update later
this week, but until then. . . .
May the battle for the wishbone
begin. Happy Thanksgiving!!!
